Owner - Fort Saskatchewan Second Cup

I have owned the Fort Saskatchewan Second Cup for two and a half years, during which time I have been very involved in the community and have undertaken a number of innovative measures to increase and improve business. In my first year of business, we won “New Business of the Year with the Chamber of Commerce.” In year two, we won “Franchise of the Year” and won “Marketing Excellence” this year.  I am on the Board of Directors for the Chamber of Commerce--but I don’t think there’s any connection to that and why I've won each year!!!

I am one of the founding members on the Board of Directors for the Fort Saskatchewan Women in Business Association which strives to empower, inspire, and educate local women involved in all levels of business.

Prior to owning my cafe, I was an RCMP officer for 16 years, working in isolated communities before moving to Edmonton and Project KARE, the Unsolved Homicide Task Force/Serial Killer investigations.  I was an investigator, Crown Liaison and the Media Liaison for the Project.  After Project KARE, I specialized in Child Sexual Assault investigation and Domestic Violence.  I left that career, to be my own boss, in order to create flexibility in my life, to do my most important job: raising my now 5 year old daughter.  I have a bachelor of education and significant training in psychology and interviewing.
