Stephan Guscott - The Students’ Union, University of Calgary in Calgary, AB

Stephan Guscott is a born and raised Calgarian and proclaimed student leader at the University of Calgary. A sixth year undergraduate student studying exercise and health physiology, Stephan ascribes his interest in science and human physiology to an inspiration to help others instilled by his parents, and a deep curiosity for the natural world. Stephan has held several leadership roles at the University of Calgary, first as an organizer for a national Kinesiology conference—the Kinesiology Games—in 2013, to several elected representative positions with the Students’ Union.

After previously holding the offices of Faculty of Kinesiology representative and Vice-President Academic, Stephan is currently the President of the University of Calgary Students’ Union. He represents 25,000 undergraduate students through his role on the university’s Board of Governors, the board of the West Campus Development Trust and many other university decision making bodies. Stephan also advocates to all levels of government on students’ behalf, and to the university on issues from tuition and fees, to infrastructure funding, and academic programming. After his tenure at the Students’ Union, Stephan hopes to move on to a career in medicine, and to remain actively engaged with the Calgary community through service on public agencies, boards, and commissions.
