Rancher, Tyler Herbert raises and direct-markets grassfed, grass-finished beef at Trail's End near Nanton, Alberta. Born and raised on a mixed-farm in rural Saskatchewan, his upbringing encouraged independence and entrepreneurialism. He came to the foothills as a working-cowboy in the early 2000s. Today he balances ranching and raising a young family with an oil-field manufacturing job.
Trail's End Beef came to be in collaboration with his wife, Rachel, and his mother-in-law, Linda Loree. Grassfed, grass-finished cattle was a natural fit for them all. It melded their ethics and environmental consciousness with their ranching heritage. Over ten years later, the Angus cow herd has grown along with the customer base and demand for grassfed beef continues to exceed the supply.
Hard work brings huge rewards, especially when it comes to food. Producing premium quality beef led Tyler to develop an appreciation for the finer things - especially good beef and good wine. He believes in the terroir of beef; that, like wine, our palettes recognize the regionally distinctive flavours and complexities of the steak on our plates.
